Hello and welcome to Cobian's site! Please feel free to walk around my site and download any of my programs. Because of the popularity of Cobian Backup, which now is in his 9th version, I have now made most of my other programs obsolete. You can download some of my old programs but I don't offer any support regarding them. If you have some questions about Cobian Backup, please read the Help file and the FAQ first, and if you don't find the answer to your question there, post it to the support forum and I or other users will gladly try to help you. Feel free to leave some lines in my guest book too. 2008-02-13 Amanita is now entering the Alfa phase. That means that a lot of testing is being done on the new functions: Volume Shadow Copy, 7zip compression, etc. The new Translator and language files are out. If you are willing to translate Amanita into your language, please feel free to download it from the Translator's forum. The FAQ has been updated 2008-01-17 Well, it's been a long time without an update. As you may know, last year I decided to make Cobian Backup 8 Black Moon Open Source. I had tried to go this way twice in the past and I really was hopping for a better result this time. The program has been out on SourceForge as OS for about a year now but AFAIK there have not been new releases. What's done is done and the code that is out cannot be pulled back and I will not try to do that either. That code will be available forever for those who want to make a custom version or just to learn how things work. What I'm doing is the following: I'm forking the code and I'm glad to announce that I will be giving out a new version of Cobian backup very soon. I have been secretly working on this for some months now. This new version is code named Amanita and will NOT be Open Source. It will remain closed forever and ever. The program will be freeware of course. For more info about Amanita and to see what's new see the program's site.
2007-08-04 Hello all! Last month I made the announcement that I would be abandoning the development of Cobian Backup. I was searching for a developer that would be willing to take over the project with everything that this implies. I’m very excited to announce that Marshall Fryman has agreed to assume managing the project and he’ll be making further announcements in the coming weeks. Mr. Fryman is an experienced Delphi developer and I’ve been pleased with our discussions about the future of the program. Yes, the source of the program will stay Open, and I’m sure that many new useful features will be added in future versions, but I’ll let Marshall tell you more about this. I will be taking a break from Cobian Backup. It has been a long (8 years!) and exciting journey. I’m sure I will be doing a lot of programming in the future as well, and you may see me pop up from time to time in the support forums. Watch this space for more info! 2007-06-22 I'm searching for a developer who wants to take over the project and be the main project manager/leader of the program on SourceForge. If nobody is willing to take the responsibility by the end of july, I'll declare the project officially abandoned. Please send your request to me by mail. You must be serious about the future of the project and have **good** experience in Delphi programming. 2007-03-21: Cobian Backup is now Vista compatible 2007-02-15 : Cobian Backup is now Open Source. I'm sure this is a bad decision and this eventually will mean the end of the program as we know it (Open Source is not the Holy Grail, you know?), but I have no longer the time (nor the desire) to keep developing the program year after year. So now you can download the program in binary or source form from SourceForge. The code is licensed under the Mozilla Public License 1.1 . If you are a developer, you can download the code and use it, but if yu care for the program and want to take part in the program's development, drop me a line and I'll add you to the team. You must use SVN then to work with the main depository. I will be participating in the project the first months, and then I will eventually take a break when (and IF) I find a good developing team. 2006-05-29 : The first Beta version of Cobian Backup 8 is out. Please download it and send your feedback to the support forum. Thank you! 2006-03-29: I am now working in the new version of the program Cobian Backup. This version is a little special because it will only run on NT based systems (NT,2000,2003,XP,Vista, etc). The project has the code name Black Moon and I hope I'll have a Beta version out this summer. 2006-02-08: Cobian Herald is now ready for download. Cobian Herald is a mailing list server. 2005-12-13 Warning: AdAware sometimes wrongly reports 2 of the SSL libraries used by Cobian Backup to be spyware. See the FAQ for more info. 2005-12-13 a new version of Cobian Backup is out. 2005-10-01 Cobian Backup 7 is out of the Beta phase. 2005-05-30: The first BETA version of Cobian Backup 7 is out! Translators needed! If you want to translate the new version to your language, please, download the new translation tool from the program's page. 2005-05-27 A BETA version of Cobian Backup 7 will be out soon when I am done with the Spanish translation. 2005-05-27 - My site have now a new layout. It was about time now. 2005-05-23 - An early ALFA version of Cobian Backup 7 is now out for testing. Download and try it on the support forum. |
