broken modutils?

Hi,

I'm wondering if modutils is broken as of today (2.3.7-1) As soon as i
upgraded that package, i can no longer bring up eth1 (No such device),
even though it has an entry in modules.conf

i wasn't previously subscribed to this list and did search the
archives and found nothing. I'm sorry if i've missed a thread.
